Ready and raring for new season
THE Port Douglas Crocs are gearing up for their first match of the 2013 Cairns AFL season which will be contested under lights tonight at the Croc Pit for the first time.
The Crocs will take on Centrals Trinity Beach and plan to unveil up to 10 of their new recruits.
Crocs coach Brad Cooper said he was confident the new players would add a new dimension to the team.
‘‘We have had quite a few training sessions now with the new guys, it’s time to see how they go under the heat of battle,’’ he said. ‘‘Indications are looking good. ‘‘The team as a whole are starting to jell and understand our game plan. ‘‘But it’s going to be a process.’’ There will be food and drink available at the Croc Pit canteen and live entertainment after the game.
Crocs president Andy Smith said the club had a huge season ahead to celebrate its 25th anniversary and encouraged supporters to get involved.
‘‘We want people to be involved and there are still club memberships available,’’ he said.
‘‘The Crocs are a great club to be involved with, whether it’s as a member or as a volunteer helping out in the canteen.’’
A general social membership is available which will give you free entry to all home games.
The 200 Club membership option gives you a free t-shirt, a delicious free luncheon at every home game and free entry to all home games. For more information on club membership options contact Andy Smith on 0408 985 372. The reserve grade game begins at 6pm tonight and the seniors tip-off at 8pm.
