Help­ing keep par­adise plas­tice-free

PORT Dou­glas State School stu­dents are do­ing their part to spread the mes­sage about the harm­ful ef­fects of plas­tic bags on marine life as part of the Think Out­side the Bag pro­ject.

The pro­ject is be­ing run by the Cairns and Far North En­vi­ro­ment Cen­tre in part­ner­ship with Tan­gora Blue and the Dou­glas Shire Sus­tain­abil­ity Group.

Dur­ing the past school term Reef Guardian stu­dents from the school have been learn­ing about the harm­ful ef­fects of plas­tic bags and other marine de­bris af­fect­ing their com­mu­nity.

The stu­dents have cre­ated posters re­lat­ing to the is­sue that can be seen un­til the end of May at the Port Dou­glas Kiosk (lo­cated in the Com­mu­nity Cen­tre).
