Big laughs for Sugar Wharf
AFTER two years of sold out shows at Port Douglas Carnivale, The Big Laugh is returning for the hattrick later this month and is promising one of the funniest festival events to ever hit the stage.
This year’s line up includes the comical stylings of local MC Matt Mann, award winning stand-up comedian, writer and broadcaster Greg Sullivan and Australia’s ‘‘new Goddess of comedy’’, mother-of-five Mandy Nolan.
The winner of the Parrotfish Lodge Open Mic Comedy night will also feature on the bill for this hilarious evening of naughty adults-only laughs.
Melinda-Kim Norris from Festivals Up North said Carnivale is all about fun, and The Big Laugh will bring plenty of it.
‘‘It is obvious that Port Douglasians loves a good laugh, and as long as the punters keep turning up to The Big Laugh, we will keep putting comedy on the bill at Port Douglas Carnivale,’’ she said. ‘‘The line-up this year is very exciting. ‘‘Matt Mann from Cairns is a regular at the Big Laugh and our host for the night and it’s great to get that locals’ perspective of our very quirky eclectic region and its people.
‘‘Greg ‘Sully’ Sullivan is renowned for a very controversial career as a radio announcer at Triple M and will be sharing his secrets of life and love with us. ‘‘Mandy Nolan is terribly devilish.’’ The Big Laugh will be held at the Sugar Wharf on Thursday, May 23, open from 7pm for an 8pm show start.
Tickets are available from Goodies Cafe in Mossman or Origin Cafe in Port Douglas for $35, online at www.festivalsupnorth.com for $33.50 or $40 at the door.
