SATUR­DAY night saw the Moss­man Port Dou­glas Sharks host the Ed­mon­ton Storm in three grades of high class rugby league over the week­end.

The A-grade fix­ture saw the mighty Sharks stay un­de­feated at home win­ning a very tight and ex­cit­ing game.

It was a tough with Ed­mon­ton scor­ing two early tries be­fore the Sharks kicked into gear and scored one of their own to go into half­time down 10-6. The sec­ond half saw the Sharks come out fir­ing, scor­ing two tries in quick suc­ces­sion be­fore Ed­mon­ton an­swered with two more tries, but with 10 min­utes to go the Sharks then stepped up to score again to take the lead 24-20. Ed­mon­ton had two great chances to score but the Sharks de­fended bril­liantly to keep their hopes alive and with only two min­utes to go the Sharks kicked a field goal and then had to defuse a short kick off to fi­nally run out 25-20 win­ners. Tryscor­ers for the Sharks were Daryl Light­ning 2, Bron­san Ryan, and Mervyn Mis­sion­ary with Lyall Murghar kick­ing four goals and Col­ridge Dabah kick­ing the field goal. Best on field were Daryl Light­ning, Ai­den Smith, Lu­cas Creek, Bron­san Ryan and Lyall Murghar.

The re­serves saw the Sharks fell short against a qual­ity Storm side but the Sharks never gave up and the fi­nal score was 42- 34. Tryscor­ers were Luke Hay­wood, Luke Vid­ito, Tris­tan Bowen, Bryson Creek, Gavai Wal­lace and Ja­maal Can­non scor­ing two while Justin Kooka kicked five goals. Best on field were Ja­maal Can­non, Ver­non Can­non, Demilio Den­man and Bryson Creek. C-grade kicked the nights ac­tion off with a very tight and en­ter­tain­ing game.

Ed­mon­ton con­verted four of their tries while the Sharks only landed one to fall short 32 to 26.

This week­end sees the Sharks trav­el­ling to Yarrabah on Sun­day to take on the Sea­hawks. The Sharks C-grade are play­ing on Satur­day at Bar­low Park at 4.30pm.
