Work begins on oil palms
WORK has begun on tidying up the oil palms in Port Douglas, ready for Carnivale. CRC Mayor Bob Manning last week said the works would happen, although it was understood it was not part of the maintenance schedule. After receiving the tender the Mossman and Port Douglas Tree Loppers got to work on Tuesday, owner Billy Quaid said he was confident the work would be finished in time for Carnivale. ‘‘They are the flagship of Port Douglas and if they look untidy it reflects on the community,’’ he said.
