SHORT AND SWEET

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

Check out progress on what will be the house with the best view in Port Douglas. What do you think of the location and impact on the lookout?

What a disaster for tourists and locals alike. I hope Council placed a height restriction on the building but with this red-neck council I’m not holding my breath

Great location for the owner, bit terrible to see the outlook from the lookout change though.

I have a pic of that view ;) The land has been for sale for seemingly ever. A council with one iota of foresight would have bought it. Can hardly blame the new owner.

Trial by media? What are you implying about the height of the building - another two storeys? The time to object was when the permit application was in. The way it is now the view is fine. Do you have an artist’s impression of the view when the building is complete? That is what we should be discussing, not speculating without all the facts. I have no ownership interest in the property and I certainly would be distressed if the view vanished but show me something that indicates the view will go.

Hello John Drinkwater. I’ll be up there on Sunday and will have a look. Perhaps I jumped the gun before seeing for myself, however it would have been nice to have this property as a reserve and you cannot blame the owners for building on it. After years of having the nice view which is a drawcard for tourists, any impediment will detract from the visual amenity and tourism magnetism of Port Douglas. I would have written a submission to Council if I knew of the construction and argued for a site sensitive building without impact on visual amenity. Perhaps The Port Douglas and Mossman Gazette can source an artists impression of the finished project.?

Take your pictures now - unfortunately I feel we’ll be losing our iconic and beautiful view that has been shared with, visited and photographed by thousands. Only one will have that view once completed: the owner and their friends...

I have a picture of that exact

location :)

Horrible! Can’t believe they let it through planning :( Our iconic view from this lookout will be ruined ......

A customer was talking about this the other day how could this happen please explain. :-(

What look out??? it will now be a lookout consisting of someones backyard :(

Once garden is planted view will be gone in 2 years. Just look at next door. Again, it’s not the fault of the owner

If there is a height restriction and lookout remains, I would hate to live in that house with all the people pulling up at their rooftop
