Top tasters at party

VIR­GIN Aus­tralia Food Wine & A Taste of Port will fea­ture 21 chefs from seven of the top restau­rants in the trop­ics.

Tak­ing place sea­side un­der strik­ing il­lu­mi­nated palm fronds on the fore­shore at Rex Smeal Park, some of the re­gion’s best restau­rants will be rep­re­sented with fine din­ing menus and the choic­est of Aus­tralian and in­ter­na­tional bev­er­ages in­clud­ing Salsa Bar and Grill, Bel Cibo, Pep­pers Beach Club and Spa, Reef Cater­ing, Salt House, Aqua and Port Dou­glas Cater­ing.

In 2013 there’s an ex­cit­ing new lay­out, dou­ble the num­ber of restau­rant stalls and dif­fer­ent ticket op­tions.

As well as the food and wine, there’ll be a fab­u­lous line up of en­ter­tain­ment on the main stage through­out the night.

Stars of last year’s TV se­ries The Voice, Mahalia Barnes and Prin­nie Stevens, will be per­form­ing for the first time in Port Dou­glas sup­ported by lo­cal artists Top Shelf, crooner Rhys Tol­hurst and the Mont­gomery Broth­ers.

The theme this year has been in­spired by the re­lease of the Hol­ly­wood clas­sic, The Great Gatsby, pay­ing homage to ‘‘ the Roar­ing ’20s’’ with great prizes to be won for the best themed ta­ble and best­dressed.
