Palates a must-do

PALATES of Port is a must at Car­ni­vale for food and wine lovers.

The Sugar Wharf is trans­formed into a glamorous set­ting for the ‘‘Great Gatsby’’ themed event, com­plete with beaded chan­de­liers, string cur­tains, black and white fab­rics, bal­loons and ex­trav­a­gant ta­ble dec­o­ra­tions.

Event or­gan­iser and owner of Port Dou­glas Cater­ing and Events Cameron Wal­ton said guests can ex­pect a world class din­ing ex­pe­ri­ence as a se­lec­tion of the re­gion’s top restau­rants de­sign and cook a course for this much an­tic­i­pated ban­quet.

Salsa Bar & Grill, Har­risons Restau­rant, Nau­tilus, Bel Cibo, Zai Restau­rant, Thala Beach Lodge, Sher­a­ton Mi­rage Port Dou­glas Re­sort and Port Dou­glas Cater­ing and Events will each en­tice the taste­buds with their culi­nary de­lights.

All cour­ses will be de­signed to show­case the re­gion’s lo­cal in­gre­di­ents with braised beef cheek tortellini, mint julep mar­i­nated ocean trout, a seafood tast­ing plate, Dain­tree Es­tate Choco­lates and macaroons, just a few of the dishes on the menu.

Each restau­rant will also match the wines for their course and will dis­cuss the pair­ing and why the wine cho- sen com­pli­ments the dish.

Din­ers will also be treated to first class en­ter­tain­ment with the smooth jazzy sounds of Take Five and a spe­cial one-night only ap­pear­ance by Wilma Read­ing on vo­cals.
