Palates a must-do
PALATES of Port is a must at Carnivale for food and wine lovers.
The Sugar Wharf is transformed into a glamorous setting for the ‘‘Great Gatsby’’ themed event, complete with beaded chandeliers, string curtains, black and white fabrics, balloons and extravagant table decorations.
Event organiser and owner of Port Douglas Catering and Events Cameron Walton said guests can expect a world class dining experience as a selection of the region’s top restaurants design and cook a course for this much anticipated banquet.
Salsa Bar & Grill, Harrisons Restaurant, Nautilus, Bel Cibo, Zai Restaurant, Thala Beach Lodge, Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort and Port Douglas Catering and Events will each entice the tastebuds with their culinary delights.
All courses will be designed to showcase the region’s local ingredients with braised beef cheek tortellini, mint julep marinated ocean trout, a seafood tasting plate, Daintree Estate Chocolates and macaroons, just a few of the dishes on the menu.
Each restaurant will also match the wines for their course and will discuss the pairing and why the wine cho- sen compliments the dish.
Diners will also be treated to first class entertainment with the smooth jazzy sounds of Take Five and a special one-night only appearance by Wilma Reading on vocals.
Palates will be held on Friday, May 24 at the Sugar Wharf, starting at 6.30pm. Tickets are $169.50 per person and available via www.carnivale.com.au
