ANOTHER away game for the mighty Port Douglas Crocs Under-8s saw eight fit and firing athletes battle it out against the Cairns City Lions on Sunday. Playing deep in the forward pocket young little Taj Uwland was dominant early with some fine leads deep out of the forward line, with Jetson Parry bobbing up and causing a few headaches for the Lions defence. On one leg and showing a heap of courage was little ‘‘Crunch’’ Kalan Poole who played his heart out and showing signs of frustration after watching another Crows defeat the night before. Carlton’s great form lately has inspired Ethan Scott, who produced some telling marks and a fine goal. In the middle big bad Jonte Revell played his best game of the year with some thumping kicks deep into the forward line and the quick footwork - just like his mum on the dance floor - of Jai Stapleton kept the large crowd entertained. Gus Gaske was out standing all game with many courageous acts and his team work to involve other players was a highlight. Zippy rover Hayden Caswell may have found a new position down back and was in and under everything and played a great game. Coach’s awards went to Gus, Hayden, Jonte and Kalan.
