Beach cricket bash

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - CLASSIFIEDS -

YOU don’t need to bat like Michael Clarke to be a legend in your own lunchtime at the Carnivale beach cricket tournament next Saturday.

There is still time to get a team together for a classic game of beach cricket with separate divisions for the social sloggers and those who take their tennis ball on willow more seriously.

A feature of the Carnivale Beach Day on May 18, the beach cricket tournament will take place at the northern end of Four Mile Beach with teams of six players invited to join in the fun.

The Iron Bar Carnivale beach cricket competition will kick off at 8.30am, fun is guaranteed for everyone and the winning teams can celebrate with complimentary nibbles and drinks at the Iron Bar.

Organiser Yvonne Carr said to get your team in now as there are limited spots available.

‘‘We would love to see some more kids teams get involved this year,’’ she said.

‘‘It is a game of strategy and fun for the whole family.

‘‘My strategy for example, is to put off the batsman with my amazing prancing bowling technique.

‘‘And the best part is that there is a $100 voucher from the the Iron Bar up for grabs.

‘‘Dress up in your craziest gear if you dare.’’

Teams must be registered by May 16 so get in quick to avoid missing out on the fun.
