Author brings tale to Port Douglas

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

A WOMAN who once had a talent for selfsabotage and partying is bringing her story to Port Douglas, by presenting her book Sex, Drugs and Meditation. The memoir is the incredible true story of a woman who managed to turn her life around through medi- tation. Through the aid of therapy and the anonymous programs, Mary-Lou Stephens managed to overcome a tricky childhood, drama school, drug and alcohol addiction, the lure of performing in late-night gigs and a spectacular display of poor taste in men. She landed her dream job as a broadcaster for ABC and life was looking good until her new boss started.

Mary-Lou was determined to avoid more therapy and desperate to find a way to cope with a toxic work environment, she signed herself up for a 10-day meditation retreat that required total silence and a lot of sitting cross-legged with a bunged knee and limited flexibility. Mary-Lou is bringing her wickedly humorous story to Whileaway Bookshop and Cafe on Sunday May 26 at 10am.
