BBQ for garden
NAUTILUS St will be the venue for a good old-fashioned community barbecue on Sunday.
The barbecue will celebrate the community spirit of volunteers and residents who have supported the garden with a fundraiser for the Mossman and District Gymnastics Club.
Local legend and the man largely responsible for turning Nautilus St into the garden oasis it is today, James Watson, is throwing out the welcome mat for the family gettogether.
‘‘Come and enjoy the com- pany of friends, meet new people and enjoy our beautiful gardens,’’ he said.
‘‘The money raised from the sale of food and drink will go to the gymnastics club and help them to purchase new equipment.
‘‘I think it a great way to give them some recognition for all their efforts and what they have done.
‘‘It is also the two-year anniversary of the Nautilus St garden officially opening so that is even more reason to celebrate.’’
Mr Watson is also still seeking a barbecue or two for the afternoon to cook up the delicious steak sandwiches and sausages and anyone who may want to help him cook up a storm.
There are some tables and chairs around the area but people are recommended to bring their own seats or a blankets to sit on the grass.
The community barbecue will be held from 4-6pm on Sunday. Phone James on 0438 148 691 if you can offer any assistance.
