DAB art sale
DOUGLAS Arts Base is making the most of Carnivale crowds and is holding an art sale in Port Douglas.
While DAB’sannual art sale happens in September, this year they have decided to hold a second sale for two days on May 22 and 23.
On sale will be pieces of art of all shapes, sizes and styles, including paintings, pottery, sculptures, ceramics and mosaics.
DAB membership manager Inger Rower said they are encouraging both tourists and locals to come along and look at what is on display, chat with DAB members and purchase a piece of locally produced art.
‘‘Many of DAB’s members have been producing art for many years now, I personally love painting but I also do some drawing, pottery and ceramics and recently had a sniff at printmaking,’’ Ms Rowe said.
‘‘We just seem to create a lot, and it is getting harder to find wall and surface space at home for it any longer.
‘‘And it is such a buzz when someone buys a piece of art off a DAB member, just knowing that your piece of creation has found a place in someone else’s home is exciting.’’
With over 100 DAB members, there is a lot of art on display at the sale, which is being held in the Port Douglas CWA Hall from 9.30am-5pm on Wednesday and Thursday May 22 and 23.
DAB members will also be there to discuss courses on offer and becoming a member, for more information visit www.dabmossman.com
