THE second home game of the year saw the mighty Port Douglas Crocs Under-8s put on a clinic for 12 proud mums on Mother’s Day against the experienced Cairns Saints outfit. Game day captain Jonte ‘‘Silvagni’’ Revell led from the front and played a solid game, as too Ethan ‘‘Koutaoufides’’ Scott who had plenty of the ball before being subbed off with a minor buttock injury. Down back Jetson ‘‘Incigneri’’ Parry was solid as a rock and the quick rebounding defensive work from Tyler ‘‘Barassi’’ Anderson, Oren ‘‘Epis’’ and the best name in footy, Jessiha ‘‘Curcio’’ St Pierre, received plenty of praise from coach Matt Scott. The local doctor had to be called for a cure for leather poisoning as Taj ‘‘Dipierdomenico’’ Anderson had it on a string with a fine fourquarter effort. Still on one leg and hobbling around like a busy bee was Kalan ‘‘Ricciuto’’ Poole and showing off his new set of wheels Jai ‘‘Martello’’ Stapleton again produced some trademark footwork that kept the Saints midfield guessing. Some fine forward pressure from Hayden ‘‘Fevola’’ Caswell and Luke ‘‘Camporeale’’ Pullman resulted in many Crocs goals and the strong marking powers of Gus ‘‘Rocca’’ Gaske who at one stage thought he was a road traffic policeman waving arms around directing traffic had the large Mother’s Day crowd in stitches. Coach’s awards went to Luke, Ethan and Tyler.
