While some of the friends Quinlyn has made from the academy will play on the White team, others will be against him in the second Queensland side, the Maroons.
Education Queensland Far North Queensland secondary schools rugby league development officer Joe OCallaghan said all the boys from the academy deserved the special recognition.
‘‘Quinlyn has been playing really well all year and has been a standout in his role as hooker,’’ he said.
‘‘I was at the carnival with him and he performed exceptionally well.
‘‘He has had a big year and definitely has the potential to go up to the next level.
‘‘If all goes well at the state titles, he could see himself selected for the national team.’’
