Danny progresses in The Voice
THE Voice contestant and Port Douglas favourite Danny Ross has made it into the top 12 of the television series, battling it out with some of the country’s best up and coming music stars.
On-screen mentor Joel Madden is impressed with Danny’s talent, choosing him to go straight through to the next round and avoid an elimination round on Monday night.
Ross’ long-time friend and local mentor, music maestro and luthier Stu Forbes, said he was proud of how far Danny has gone so far - but he expected it.
‘‘Danny is doing really well for himself,’’ he said.
‘‘I can tell he is out of his comfort zone and leaving his guitar out purposely where he can, to show he can perform without it.
‘‘We used to perform together alot and we worked a lot on his stage presence.
‘‘He was always comfortable playing guitar but I guess I kind of pushed him to sing because really, the singing and playing go hand-in-hand and it turns out he had amazing talent in both.
‘‘We always have a hoot whenever we work together and when we are playing it is like there is no age gap between us, it’s just two mates playing music.
‘‘He has worked really hard for this and i’m sure he will do well no matter what the outcome.
‘‘He is making some great contacts now and I think he will do well once the show is over.’’
Ross has plans to come back to perform a couple of shows in Port in a few months time.
‘‘I look forward to him coming up for a couple of gigs and playing together again.’’
