Market ‘will recover after election’

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

THE property market will recover after the September federal election, Aussie Home Loans entrepreneur John Symond has predicted at a national real estate conference. Mr Symond said the combination of bottomed out property prices and historically low interest rates had created the perfect environment for a recovery - the only missing ingredient was confidence. ‘‘If you want to pick a time to get into housing, you can’t get a much better time than now,’’ Mr Symond told more than 3000 agents at the Australian Real Estate Conference on the Gold Coast.

‘‘We have the lowest interest rates on record, which may even go a little lower, and we have seen the housing market bottom, while there is evidence right around Australia that prices are increasing.’’
