Ten­nis club hosts beach ten­nis

THE Port Dou­glas Ten­nis Club hosted beach ten­nis at the Car­ni­vale beach day last Satur­day. There were two round robin tour­na­ments for the ju­niors and the first tour­na­ment had seven par­tici- pants.

The matches were very close and Lochlan Gray won with 78 points ahead of run­ner-up Harry Walker who scored 76 points.

The sec­ond tour­na­ment had six ju­niors rang­ing from eight to 13 years old.

Semi- fi­nals were played be­tween Jaden and Tay­lah and Jack and Fabian.

Tay­lah won her match 9-6 and Jack won his 10-5. In a very close Tay­lah won just over Jack with 10-9.

They all got a free pri­vate ten­nis les­son from Herold at Ten­nis Coach­ing Port Dou­glas.

This Sun­day the re­gion’s best pri­mary school-aged ju­niors will com­pete at the Port Dou­glas Ten­nis Club at 1pm to be­come nom­i­nated for the Penin­sula Tri­als in Ma­reeba on June 2-3.
