MOSSMAN dynamo Skye Stevens has returned from the Queensland State Judo Titles with a gold medal after defeating her opponents in the under 40kg division.

The competitive 11-year-old is a member of the Coral Coast Judo Club and took on two girls in her division, beating her first opponent on points and the other within 10 seconds.

In her second bout, Skye gave a big throw that winded her opposition just seconds into the fight to have the state title wrapped up without raising a sweat.

Skye’s mother Tanya said she is a competitive girl who really enjoys judo.

‘‘She hopes to be in the Olympics one day, that’s how passionate she is about it,’’ she said.

‘‘She loves to compete and has no problems taking on the boys.

‘‘She probably actually prefers to beat the boys than the girls.’’

Skye will be heading down to the Cairns International Open this Sunday in Yorkeys Knob to take part in the mixed competition.
