Whilst Germany’s economic growth is slowing, the country is predicted to avoid recession. Against this backdrop, German visitors to Australia remained flat over the 2012 year, despite a strong December quarter for the Holiday, VFR and Education segments. Strong VFR travel may be linked to the youth/working holiday segment, which remain strong. In local currency, expenditure in Australia remains positive, up 5 per cent, however it declined in AUD.
