Against this back­drop, Ger­man vis­i­tors to Aus­tralia re­mained flat over the 2012 year, de­spite a strong De­cem­ber quar­ter for the Hol­i­day, VFR and Ed­u­ca­tion seg­ments. Strong VFR travel may be linked to the youth/work­ing hol­i­day seg­ment, which re­main strong. In lo­cal cur­rency, ex­pen­di­ture in Aus­tralia re­mains pos­i­tive, up 5 per cent, how­ever it de­clined in AUD.

Queens­land had an in­crease of 12 per cent in Ger­man vis­i­tors while ev­ery other state had a de­cline
