Leisure visitors were the largest growth segment, with Holiday arrivals up two per cent and Visiting Friends and Relatives. For the year ending September 2012, New Zealanders were spending more in Australia and staying longer, on their visits. There was a decline however in the number of nights spent in regional Australia, down 5 per cent. Anecdotal feedback suggests this has been affected by higher ground costs.
