$116 mil­lion up 17 per cent The Cana­dian mar­ket con­tin­ues to im­prove, how­ever not at the same pace as the USA. The to­tal num­ber of vis­i­tors from Canada to Aus­tralia grew slightly for the year-end­ing De­cem­ber 2012, com­pared to 2011. Ar­rivals growth was driven by the Leisure seg­ment (Hol­i­day and VFR), which rep­re­sents 74 per cent of to­tal ar­rivals. To­tal vis­i­tor nights by Cana­dian vis­i­tors de­clined one per cent; and the num­ber of nights spent in re­gional Aus­tralia de­creased 12 per cent.

Fe­males make up 58 per cent of the 15-29 age group, how­ever only 41 per cent of 30-49

94 per cent of Cana­dian vis­i­tors came to Aus­tralia as in­de­pen­dent trav­ellers

62 per cent of Cana­dian vis­i­tors trav­elled to Queens­land alone

9 per cent of Cana­dian vis­i­tors to Queens­land were over 70 years of age
