The total number of visitors from Canada to Australia grew slightly for the year-ending December 2012, compared to 2011. Arrivals growth was driven by the Leisure segment (Holiday and VFR), which represents 74 per cent of total arrivals. Total visitor nights by Canadian visitors declined one per cent; and the number of nights spent in regional Australia decreased 12 per cent.

94 per cent of Canadian visitors came to Australia as independent travellers
