While the number of overnight stays remained stable at 3.5 billion nights, outbound travel expenditures rose 2 per cent to 353 billion Euro. Long-haul destinations were popular for Europeans this year with a healthy 4 per cent increase in trips to overseas destinations. Travel to the Americas increased 2 per cent, however the largest increase was to the Asia Pacific region with 8 per cent.
