$45 mil­lion up 13 per cent Ital­ian vis­i­tors to Aus­tralia have reached a new all-time high, well above pre­vi­ous peaks seen in 2000 and 2008. Vis­i­tor num­bers in­creased across all seg­ments of Hol­i­day, VFR, Busi­ness and Ed­u­ca­tion. For the year-end­ing Septem­ber 2012 ex­pen­di­ture in Aus­tralia turned a cor­ner, with growth driven by Hol­i­day vis­i­tors. The num­ber of dis­persed nights has also in­creased. Spend and ar­rivals from the Youth and Work­ing Hol­i­day seg­ments re­main strong. 62 per cent are first time vis­i­tors 41 per cent are aged 15-29,with 38 per cent aged 30-49

59 per cent are un­ac­com­pa­nied trav­ellers with 24% trav­el­ling as an adult cou­ple 10 per cent flew to Aus­tralia via Bris­bane Queens­land was vis­ited by 37 per cent of Ital­ian vis­i­tors to Aus­tralia
