Mt Molloy’s herd of model cows
MT MOLLOY State School recently welcomed a herd of 75 model cows to their school as part of The Great Wall of Dairy Program.
Students will soon be learning the history of the dairy industry in the local area through research and interviews with local residents.
They will also learn about the importance of having a healthy, balanced diet and will have the opportunity to cook with a variety of dairy products as part of the schools Stephanie Alexander - Kitchen Garden Program where the students participate in weekly cooking classes.
Year 7 student Jye Schreiber said the program is a lot of fun.
‘‘ Dairy is important in everyday life because it contains calcium and helps your bones to grow,’’ he said.
The herd of cows will be painted and decorated in their art classes, however the students see fit.
The cows will be herded off and displayed at the presentation event in August.
