Moonlight Cinema warms up projector
THE countdown is on for the return of the big screen to the great outdoors in Port Douglas.
The Opel Moonlight Cinema is set to once again transform QT Port Douglas into the ultimate outdoor cinema experience, showcasing an extensive schedule of the hottest new release films from June 21 to October 6.
The film schedule is brimming with the latest releases to entertain audiences of all ages from Disney Pixar’s Monsters University, Despicable Me 2 and The Smurfs 2 to latest releases including The Great Gatsby, Iron Man 3, The Hangover Part III, Star Trek Into Darkness and Man of Steel.
And its not just movies on the menu, with the tempting food such as steamed Asian dumplings and classic nachos sure to satisfy the taste buds as well as a full bar on- site.
Moonlight Cinema’s Patrick Martin said this year they plan to add a special feature to the bill.
‘‘We’re hoping to trial a few Monday or Tuesday night screenings throughout the season,’’ he said.
‘‘This way, locals who work in hospitality over the weekend don’t miss out on experiencing the cinema.’’
The cinema also plans to screen games two and three of the State of Origin and will again host fundraisers for worthy causes combined with special movie screenings.
The Moonlight Cinema will kick off with Monsters University on June 21. Prices for the cinema are $16 for adults, $14 for a student, $12 for seniors and children while comfortable bean beds are only an extra $9 to hire.
