New Bloomfield River bridge work won’t start this year
ALTHOUGH $5 million was allocated in the state budget for the construction of a bridge at the Bloomfield River crossing, the work is unlikely to go ahead this year. Tenders were called for the construction and are back in but State MP David Kempton said there was a need to redesign the bridge to get the ‘‘best value for money’’. ‘‘There were several tenders and it’s not that they were too high but it’s value for money, cheapest isn’t always best so we have got to look at doing it more economically to get a better outcome,’’ he said.
The redesign is expected to take a couple of weeks and the new plan is to start construction next dry season.
