Monster Maths in Mossman
MOSSMAN State Primary school celebrated National Literacy and Numeracy Week by holding its annual Monster Maths Day last Tuesday morning.
Each class was responsible for providing a couple of activities for all the students to visit and enjoy doing maths.Activities included speed games with stacking cups and another racing with times tables. There were water games around volume, dance offs involving operations, the famous chocolate dice game, javelin straw throwing and fishing for target numbers. There was calculator hopscotch, Mad Money rob the nest, trading, patterning and much more. The purpose of the day is to create a fair-like atmosphere where the whole school is immersed in how much fun mathematics can be.‘‘It is spectacular fun, the best activity is the stacking cups races,’’ said Petrie Miller. ‘‘Monster Maths is a fun day, I will miss it when I go to high school,’’ added Micah Walker.
