Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - CLASSIFIEDS -

MOSSMAN Primary students spent most of last Friday outdoors enjoying various sports, thanks to a visit from the team from the Cape Education Sports Tour.

Instructors worked with teachers at the school under the program presented by the N o r t h Queensland Sports Foundation and the state government.

This tour’s sweep included visits to Cooktown, Rossville, Wonga Beach, and Miallo.

Primary children were given instruction in rugby league, soccer, hockey, baseball and tennis from seven instructors.

Tour co- ordinator Morgan Regan said the tours were tiring due to the distances involved but had worthwhile benefits to school communities that often lacked support for sports education and specialist squad training. The kids always enjoyed themselves, though the prep kids were worn out by lunchtime usually. But, ‘‘up north, way up on the Cape, they last all day,’’ he said.
