Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

RESIDENTS in Mossman through to Daintree Village are one step closer to a more reliable source of electricity with Ergon Energy commissioning a detailed design and construction plans for a redevelopment of the Mossman substation. The plan will allow for accurate costing and will be submitted to Ergon’s Investment Review Committee before the end of the year, and if approved, construction could begin next year. The upgrade will see 2955 customers located in the greater Mossman/Daintree district put onto a 132,000-volt line. They are currently on a 66,000 volt line from the Tablelands.

While the process is continuing Ergon has been busy working on the current lines to improve reliability, including installing high voltage switching equipment in several locations.
