The business savvy
I believe I have the business experience, a diversity of skills, exposure to living and working in other cultures and local knowledge to be an effective, accountable, and forward-thinking member of the new DSC.
Establishing strong foundations for the new Shire with professional governance standards, community engagement, review the Douglas Shire Plan, development of a coastal management plan, address the weed and feral animal problems in the Daintree and to giving all Douglas ratepayers equitable representation.
Any progress on the Waterfront Masterplan will depend on available funding but the most important issue here is that any decisions will now be made by locals.
We already have a possible pathway to return to chemical-free water as outlined by South Australia’s Chief Scientist, Professor Don Bursill. I am keen to explore this further.
I am committed to the growth and future prosperity of the Douglas Shire. I believe this will come about through a cohesive, informed and accessible council. A good council reflects the fabric of their community.
I am both pragmatic and approachable with an established network across a broad range of disciplines and businesses in the Shire. If elected, I will commit full-time to delivering fair outcomes without fear or favour.
