Cruise Down Un­der Con­fer­ence

THE cruise mar­ket con­tin­ues to grow and the re­ports from the re­cent CDU con­fer­ence held in Cairns, only strength­ened the im­por­tance of the fastest grow­ing tourism mar­ket in Aus­tralia. Port Dou­glas had for 12/13 a di­rect ex­pen­di­ture into our re­gion of $4.8 mil­lion and is now ranked the 8th most vis­ited des­ti­na­tion in Aus­tralia by cruise ships. TPDD at­tended the con­fer­ence and were a spon­sor for the event.

High­light­ing the growth of cruise ship vis­its, set to be record break­ing for 2013/ 14, there are 3 ships in a week dur­ing Oc­to­ber with Sun Princess ar­riv­ing on Satur­day 12 Oc­to­ber, Dawn Princess on Wed­nes­day 16 and the lux­u­ri­ous Ra­di­ance of the Seas in her first visit for 2013 on Fri­day 18 Oc­to­ber.
