Clink debates all the hot topics

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE - Jessie Tolson

FORGET the 2013 political debates, the 2013 Great Comedy Debate is upon us and promises to argue an important issue.

The gloves are off and two teams of experts in their fields will go head to head to argue the case of whether Money Buys Happiness.

Watch as the teams battle it out for the title of 2013 Greatest Debaters, in hilarious style.

The teams will attempt to provide some logical consistency and factual accuracy along with a degree of emotional appeal to the audience through their skills of persuasion.

The Pro team will be made up of Ben Radford, Malea Turnbull and Roy Weaver, while the Negative team will see David Morrison, Za Harricharan and Todd Malone line up to argue their point.

Comedian Matt Mann will MC the event and not keep the teams inline.

Bribes are expected, nudity has been threatened and those in the panel feel that comedy will be the winner.

The outcome of the debate will be decided by audience vote and blatant breaking of the rules by the teams is totally acceptable.

Producer Claire Tierney said this is one event you won’t want to miss.

‘‘This is a great event supported by many who don’t usually attend the theatre,’’ she said.

‘‘They come for the humour and audience participation.

‘‘The topics create a great amount of after show banter and the crowd hang around to enjoy the atmosphere well after the show is over.’’

The Great Comedy Debate is one of the funniest events on the 2013 calendar.
