Deep Six for the abusive Derek, and Dr Inky bows out

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

DEREK the Angry Dugong has left the Gazette after deciding people are ‘‘too annoying and stupid’’ and has allegedly left town with Miss Dolphin for a fresh start in the Southern Great Barrier Reef.

Mr Derek told the Gazette he was only ever writing what the stars told him after smoking some ‘‘herbal tea’’, but he could not stand to be around humans any longer.

‘‘I tried to show people they are ugly stupid creatures but they kept hurling abuse so I’m off,’’ he said.

‘‘To all my followers thank you for being true to yourself, and for everyone else: Go get. . . ’’ Thank you Derek. Also this week it’s goodbye to Derek’s partner in crime, Dr Inky, drawn by Mike Drinkwater for the past two years.

Dr Inky kept us entertained with his creative comic strips depicting life in the Douglas region.
