Grants to improve water flow to the Reef
TERRAIN NRM will soon be offering Reef Rescue Water Quality Grants to farmers in the Wet Tropics. The grants are to improve water quality entering the Great Barrier Reef by changing their farming practices.
Through the federal government’s Caring for our Country initiative, a further $200 million has been committed to a second phase of Reef Rescue, which will improve the quality of water flowing into the Great Barrier Reef lagoon.
‘‘In the Wet Tropics, the partnership between industry, government, scien- tists and Terrain meant that the delivery of the first five years of the Reef Rescue initiative was extremely successful and highly regarded,’’ said Terrain’s CEO, Carole Sweatman.
