Police Remembrance Day service tomorrow at St Mary’s Chapel
ALL members of the public are welcome to join with the local police for the National Police Remembrance Day Memorial Service tomorrow ( Friday, September 27), at St Mary’s Chapel by the Sea, Wharf St, Port Douglas, start- ing at 10 am. Remembrance Day is when the Queensland Police Service joins other Australian police jurisdictions to pause and honour fallen officers. The Queensland Police Service honours 140 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and is a time for members of the service and the community to remember, honour and say thank you to these dedicated men and women. The community along with police, liaison officers and staff are encouraged to pay tribute by wearing a blue checked ribbon. Ribbons are available at local police stations, free. However, donations are greatly appreciated, as funds go to the Qld Police Legacy and Community Supporting Police.
