Po­lice Re­mem­brance Day ser­vice to­mor­row at St Mary’s Chapel

ALL mem­bers of the pub­lic are wel­come to join with the lo­cal po­lice for the National Po­lice Re­mem­brance Day Me­mo­rial Ser­vice to­mor­row ( Fri­day, Septem­ber 27), at St Mary’s Chapel by the Sea, Wharf St, Port Dou­glas, start- ing at 10 am. Re­mem­brance Day is when the Queens­land Po­lice Ser­vice joins other Aus­tralian po­lice ju­ris­dic­tions to pause and hon­our fallen of­fi­cers. The Queens­land Po­lice Ser­vice hon­ours 140 of­fi­cers who lost their lives in the line of duty and is a time for mem­bers of the ser­vice and the com­mu­nity to re­mem­ber, hon­our and say thank you to th­ese ded­i­cated men and women. The com­mu­nity along with po­lice, li­ai­son of­fi­cers and staff are en­cour­aged to pay trib­ute by wear­ing a blue checked rib­bon. Rib­bons are avail­able at lo­cal po­lice sta­tions, free. How­ever, do­na­tions are greatly ap­pre­ci­ated, as funds go to the Qld Po­lice Legacy and Com­mu­nity Sup­port­ing Po­lice.
