MORE than 70 Bodies in Motion students sat their dance examinations in Mossman, with 18 named honours students after impressing examiners with their moves. Bodies in Motion offer exam classes in jazz, ballet, tap and hip hop.
The exam process teaches students valuable lessons including discipline, goal setting, independence and etiquette.
Three examiners from Melbourne and Brisbane visited the school in Mossman and were impressed with the high standard of dancing from these dedicated students.
Bodies in Motion principal Saskia Turner was thrilled with the exam results. ‘‘ I am extremely proud o f a l l students and am honoured to be a part of their development and growth as dancers,’’ she said. ‘‘It doesn’t happen very often that a school is awarded more than one honours with distinction (highest mark possible), and we received four. This year saw one of the largest group of honours students the school has ever had. Rebekah Ives: Level 5 Hip Hop - Honours with Distinction, Level 4 Ballet - Honours, Level 6 Jazz - Honours with Distinction. Ruby Brunsdon: Level 5 Hip Hop - Honours Plus, Level 6 Jazz - Honours with Distinction. Kaitlin Petrus: Level 5 Hip Hop - Honours, Level 6 Jazz- Honours . Courtney Sophocleous: Level 5 Hip Hop - Honours. Tahlea Moore: Level 4 Jazz Honours with Distinction. Zoe Trewick: Level 4 Ballet Honours. Shobi Salam: Level 3 Hip Hop - Honours. Sophie Kirk: Level 3 Hip Hop - Honours Plus. Leilani Liggins: Level 3 Hip Hop - Honours. Madina Williamson, Torana Cox and Angela Brischetto who all got a Level 2 Jazz - Pass with Distinction. Charlotte Henderson and Remy Leo: Level 2 Ballet - Pass with Distinction. Emily Duncan: Level 1 Ballet - Pass with Distinction.
