Unhelpful comments

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

In last week’s Gazette Mark McArdle once again made unhelpful statements in regards to the Daintree electricity crisis repeating the guesswork amount of $40 million for a grid and said that this is too expensive and it is not going to happen. Meanwhile there are numerous other politicians at state and federal level doing far more constructive work actively looking for funding and Ergon is doing calculations based on the expressions of interest from land owners collected by the Daintree Energy Committee. They understand that an entire community living in energy poverty like in a third world country is simply not acceptable, and the pollution and energy waste caused by standalone generator based systems is a disgrace in a world going greener and greener. While the Energy Minister speaks words of understanding during meetings in the Daintree when he is face to face with people close to tears, he does a backflip every time he goes home to Brisbane. Daintree residents can rest assured that we will NEVER give up on a solution to this crisis, and are urged to join and support www.daintreehour.com and its Facebook group.
