Light winds in play for Spring yachting series

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - CLASSIFIEDS -

LIGHT winds were the order of the day as races one and two of the Port Douglas Yacht Club Spring Series were contested.

Race one started in only 5 knots of Easterly breeze, and Doug Ryan on Shazam lead all the way to record yet another line hon- ours win. Ann Sea and Ruff Red filled the minor placings while Island Girl and Miriama brought up the rear of the field.

Ruff Red collected the handicap honours from Island Girl and Ann Sea. Race two saw a slight improvement in the wind to 7 knots, and again it was Doug Ryan’s 2013 Sydney to Hobart entrant Shazam that crossed first, with Ann Sea and Ruff Red again in the minor placings, and Island Girl and Miriama had to finish with fading winds.

Again Ruff Red took first place, followed by Shazam and Ann Sea. After the two races, Ruff Red leads from Island Girl and Ann Sea.

Race 3 of the Spring Series has been rescheduled for next Sunday, September 29, due to the AGM being held on Saturday.
