Port Dou­glas teens charged over van­dal­ism

PO­LICE have charged two Port Dou­glas male teenagers aged 15 and 16 with 42 charges, re­lat­ing to a re­cent spate of graf­fiti and dam­age to pub­lic and pri­vate prop­erty. As a re­sult of pub­lic as­sis­tance, po­lice iden­ti­fied the youths and charged them with of­fences in­clud­ing break and en­ter, wil­ful dam­age, steal­ing, graf­fiti and wil­ful dam­age with fire. The of­fences oc­curred be­tween Septem­ber 6-14 and in­cluded a beak and en­ter into Ecco Cafe in Port Doug- las, the burn­ing of two wheelie bins and dam­age to peo­ple’s ve­hi­cles. Both teens were dealt with un­der the Youth Jus­tice Act, and one par­ent re­port­edly took one of the teens around to apol­o­gise in per­son for his ac­tions.

Mean­while, a 38-year-old Ju­lat­ten man has been charged with drink driv­ing af­ter al­legedly crash­ing his ve­hi­cle while in­tox­i­cated, on the Moss­man­Dain­tree Road, Cas­sowary on Septem­ber around 9pm.
