Port Douglas teens charged over vandalism
POLICE have charged two Port Douglas male teenagers aged 15 and 16 with 42 charges, relating to a recent spate of graffiti and damage to public and private property. As a result of public assistance, police identified the youths and charged them with offences including break and enter, wilful damage, stealing, graffiti and wilful damage with fire. The offences occurred between September 6-14 and included a beak and enter into Ecco Cafe in Port Doug- las, the burning of two wheelie bins and damage to people’s vehicles. Both teens were dealt with under the Youth Justice Act, and one parent reportedly took one of the teens around to apologise in person for his actions.
Meanwhile, a 38-year-old Julatten man has been charged with drink driving after allegedly crashing his vehicle while intoxicated, on the MossmanDaintree Road, Cassowary on September around 9pm.
