How to cop a speeding ticket

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

A Whyanbeel man’s dissatisfaction over receiving a ticket from police has landed him with three charges. The 44-year-old was given a ticket for a traffic offence, failing to keep to the left of the white line, on September 25 on Captain Cook Highway near the Port Douglas entrance. The man, who was riding a motorcycle, allegedly ripped up the ticket and lay down in the middle of the road, whereupon police charged him with public nuisance.

Coincidentally, the man was found to be in possession of cannabis and a smoking utensil and was further charged with those offences. The man will appear in the Mossman magistrates court on October 16.

MEANWHILE ON September 24 police charged two women with possession of small amounts of cannabis and possession of a bong, on two separate occasions. Both women will go to court on October 16.
