T20 comp ready to roll

THE re­gion’s most ex­cit­ing sport­ing sum­mer event is kick­ing off tomorrow night, the ‘Mud­dies Big Bash’ T20 Com­pe­ti­tion start­ing off at 6pm at the Mud­dies Pit.

Four teams will bat­tle it out over seven weeks for the ti­tle of twenty-20 cham­pi­ons.

The teams this year are the Sher­a­ton Shock­waves, B Team Blasters, Port Dou­glas Roy­als and the IGA Tav­ern Ban­dits.

Teams will earn five points for a win and two points for a draw/tie.

The top two teams on points will meet in the grand fi­nal on Novem­ber 22. The rules are: All play­ers ex­cept keeper must bowl a min­i­mum of one over, max­i­mum of three overs; a five step run up max­i­mum for bowlers; free hit first ball (bats­man can­not get out un­less run out); free hit for no balls; a no ball can be over step­ping as well as a ball on the full over the bats­man’s waist or over the shoul­der af­ter bounc­ing; bats­men must re­tire at the end of the over that they score 30; they can re­turn to the crease if all other bats­men are out/re­tire; six-over power play with only two out­side the cir­cle; max­i­mum five field­ers out­side the ring af­ter the power play.
