T20 comp ready to roll
THE region’s most exciting sporting summer event is kicking off tomorrow night, the ‘Muddies Big Bash’ T20 Competition starting off at 6pm at the Muddies Pit.
Four teams will battle it out over seven weeks for the title of twenty-20 champions.
The teams this year are the Sheraton Shockwaves, B Team Blasters, Port Douglas Royals and the IGA Tavern Bandits.
Teams will earn five points for a win and two points for a draw/tie.
The top two teams on points will meet in the grand final on November 22. The rules are: All players except keeper must bowl a minimum of one over, maximum of three overs; a five step run up maximum for bowlers; free hit first ball (batsman cannot get out unless run out); free hit for no balls; a no ball can be over stepping as well as a ball on the full over the batsman’s waist or over the shoulder after bouncing; batsmen must retire at the end of the over that they score 30; they can return to the crease if all other batsmen are out/retire; six-over power play with only two outside the circle; maximum five fielders outside the ring after the power play.
