PORT Douglas will get its first 24-hour seven day a week gym when it opens in mid to late November.
Renovations to the Warner Street property is almost complete and the Port Douglas Gym is currently being decked out with the latest equipment, ready to open and will offer cardio, boxing, free weights, pin-loaded machines and personal trainers.
Co-owner Lee Undy, who moved to Port Doug- las from Melbourne and decided to open the gym as a business opportunity, said he saw a need for a 24/7 gym in Douglas.
‘‘I’ve brought the full package to Port Douglas. This is the same gym as you would find in the main cities, a continuous 24/7 gym which can cater for shift workers,’’ he said.
‘‘Everyone is health and fitness conscious these days and I think Port Douglas is more excited than me.’’
Membership pre-sales start this week, for annual memberships and once opened the gym will offer monthly options and other options.
‘‘Pre-sales are to target all the sporting clubs in Port Douglas. Every person who signs up for a membership and is affiliated with a sports club, I will donate $50 back to the club,’’ Mr Undy said.
