30th Anniversary of the Daintree Blockade

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

The weekend of November 30 is the date set for the reunion of the blockaders and others who were involved in the renowned Cape Tribulation/Bloomfield road protest in 1983/4. Organisers have found when contacting these ex-blockaders/others there is still a deep bond between them. Most were in their early 20’s or 30’s at the time. Some still in university, some settling in the Daintree area and some in business. A very few were unemployed - except some had left their jobs and homes because this was a very big battle to get into. Anyone who has been part of this part of our regions history is invited to share their tales on the Destination Daintree Facebook page or come along for the celebration at Ferntree Resort at Cape Tribulation on Nov 30th. https:/ /www.facebook.com/destinationdaintree
