Ride to Work features in Port Douglas and Cairns
A turnout of 30 locals from all walks of life, fitness and experience levels met at IGA Carpark 6am yesterday to participate in the day’s events.
Ride To Work Day is focused on introducing new people to cycling and making them feel comfortable on their bike, to encourage them to choose the healthy travel mode more often.
Local legends Lesley Stephens and Gavin Hardy conducted the 30-rider train through the streets of Port Doug- las which ended up on the Esplanade where a free BBQ breakfast donated by Actin Fitness was served.
‘‘It was a fantastic morning, let’s aim to triple numbers next year,’’ Ms Stephens commented post event.
A larger event for about 200 riders collected in Cairns, which was more than four times the amount of last year’s turnout.
