MOSSMAN State High School year 12 students are to receive a special visit from Red Frogs Australia Chaplaincy Network founder Andy Gourley who aims to prepare the youngsters for schoolies week.

Red Frogs is an internationallyrecognised Schoolies and University network that began its operations in 1997.

The Red Frogs team provide support at 15 schoolies locations around Australia where they offer a range of services to school leavers.

Mr Gourley said the team are trying to reach as many schools as possible before the schoolie celebrations begin.

‘‘We are visiting 220 high schools in Queensland over five weeks,’’ he said.

‘‘We will provide information and tips on how to not get evicted from your accommodation, how to not turn your parents into grandparents and general safety information.

‘‘We want to make sure that all the kids look after each other during the schoolies celebrations, stay with your mates and don’t walk home alone.

‘‘It is a real honour to be able to help look after our future leaders, I guess in a way we are safe guarding the next generation of leaders.

‘‘We aim to create awareness of what to expect and knowledge of how to look after themselves and others and let them know what services are available to them.

‘‘H2O have been really proactive in getting Red Frogs up to the region to visit the school, they have been great in helping to organise it.’’

The team hand out seven tonnes of Allens Red Frogs during the event, as well as assisting schoolleavers by walking them home, cooking pancakes, cleaning their rooms, and – most importantly – offering emotional support through what can often be a challenging week.

Lee- Emma Smith from H20 Warehouse met Mr Gourley earlier this year.

‘‘Earlier this year we attended a conference where Andy Gourley from Red Frogs was the keynote speaker, he addressed the issues that our younger generation are facing in today’s society especially around schoolies,’’ she said.

‘‘I was so inspired by Andy and H2O Warehouse being a family owned and operated business I thought this would be the perfect way to give back to the community and help safeguard our future leaders.

‘‘It’s so easy to support Red Frogs as their vision is so inspiring, H2O Warehouse will continue to work with Red Frogs to help younger people make positive choices in life.’’
