Smiling at the checkout
AS the saying goes winners are grinners and that’s certainly the case for Port Douglas local Alison Franz.
Ms Franz entered a statewide competition at the Port Douglas Supa IGA supermarket, and promptly forgot about it.
But that soon changed when contacted and told she’d won $10,000 in shopping vouchers at her local IGA.
‘‘I can’t believe it, $200 a week basically for a year means a lot and is a huge help to the budget,’’ Ms Franz said.
‘‘I always shop here, and I guess that will continue!’’
Equally delighted was Supa IGA local manager Denzil Bignoux.
‘‘We’re thrilled that Alison has won,’’ Mr Bignoux said.
‘‘We’ve encountered some tough times with the roundabout construction, but we’re grateful for our loyal customers who continue to support us.’’
Daughter Katie was also very happy, perhaps hoping for a few extra treats over the next year!
SIN BIN: Cane bins tipped opposite the Cooya turnoff on Wednesday morning. The accident is not expected to impact the throughput of the mill.
WINNER: Alison and Katie Franz and SupaIGA manager Denzil Bignoux
