4G on tap for Craiglie

MORE res­i­dents through­out Port Dou­glas can now ac­cess 4G ser­vices, with res­i­dents in Craiglie added to the mo­bile cov­er­age.

Tel­stra is up­grad­ing 200 re­gional towns and hol­i­day hotspots with 4G cov­er­age by the end of 2013 and Port Dou­glas is part of this pro­gram.

The ser­vice is al­ready avail­able in other parts of Port Dou­glas.

Tel­stra’s 4G ser­vices makes stream­ing movies, down­load­ing mu­sic and in­ter­net brows­ing much quicker when on the go, with typ­i­cal down­loads speeds of be­tween 2-50 megabits per sec­ond.

Tel­stra’s lat­est 4G ex­pan­sion in­volv­ing Craiglie is planned to take Tel­stra’s 4G cov­er­age to 85 per cent of the pop­u­la­tion by Christ­mas this year, up from 66 per cent at the end of June.

Tel­stra al­ready up­graded more than 2000 base sta­tions and plan to up­grade another 1500 base sta­tions.
