Steins at dawn you beer lovers
THE Port Douglas Marina will once again play host to a world of beers on Port Douglas’s favourite day, Porttoberfest, on Saturday.
There will be a bevy of beers served up by beautiful dancing frauleins and platefuls of bratwursts to satisfy the appetite.
With 12 bars offering the beers of the world, taste buds won’t know what hit them.
More than 1000 revellers are expected to pack out the iconic marina as organisers are set to deliver the most entertaining Porttoberfest ever.
Since the 2007 Porttoberfest, the next of Port Douglas landmark lifes- tyle events has been successfully building its reputation here in our little piece of tropical Australia, becoming a favourite for locals and tourists alike.
Porttoberfest – Beers of the World was established to recognise the diverse international flavour of Port Douglas’s unique locals and its perpetual wealth of visitors and of course the undeniable fact that here in Port Douglas and Cairns, quite frankly, we love beer
There will be live music all day and the party kicks off from 2pm.
Lure Restaurant and Bar’s Wayne Stapleton said he is looking forward to this special event.
‘‘ Porttoberfest means ‘ good times’ to the thousands who have attended over the years. And this year the spectacular marina boardwalk, with its scenic backdrop of the Rex Mountain Range and the luxury yachts bobbing at their moorings in time to the festival music, will present a very special way of celebrating this traditional German Mega Festival,’’ he said.
‘‘We see this event being able to embrace all the great things celebrated by our other major event hosted on the marina, Carnivale’s Seafood Extravaganza and the famous Full Moon Parties.
‘‘ We have organised North Queensland’s hottest super group, Hip 2 Soul, and the Tonic from 2pm to 10pm to play throughout the afternoon and evening.
‘‘(And) for anyone who hasn’t yet heard of or seen the Porttoberfest Dancing Girls then just these girls are worth attending for, and yes, there will be the traditional slap dance!’’
Organisers have gone all out this year, with a $500 cash prize for best dressed beer wench, Corona girls and for the very first time a beer drinking competition.
Traditional steins to really get you in the mood will be available throughout the day.
