NSW buyers join the southern surge into Port Douglas

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

THE past few months have been encouraging, and interestingly buying activity from NSW has increased dramatically, according to Callum Jones at McGrath Real Estate, Port Douglas.

‘‘Over the last two years we have seen the vast majority of buying activity coming out of Melbourne,’’ he said. ‘‘Why would the inhabitants of the city voted the best in the world be looking for a change? Is it because of the weather, the comparatively cheap prices, the fact that their friends have brought here, the lifestyle, the restaurants, the relaxed atmosphere or perhaps a combination of all factors... Whatever the case, it goes to prove that Port Douglas is still seen as a desirable escape for many to date and no doubt more to come. The combined southern surge has taken up a lot of the excess stock and local buyers have also taken up land, cheap homes and other opportunities they’ve found,’’ said Mr Jones.
